DIRECTIONS TO NEWPORT

DIRECTIONS FROM POINTS SOUTH (CT, NY, NJ)
Follow Route 95 North to exit 3A in Rhode Island. At the end of the exit ramp bear right onto Route 138 East. Follow this road to the intersection with Route 1 North/South (a couple of miles after passing the University of Rhode Island). At this traffic light take a left onto Route 1 North and look for the Jamestown/Newport Bridges exit on the right. The Jamestown Bridge leads to the Newport Bridge ($4.00 toll or EZ Pass). Take the first exit off the Newport Bridge (Scenic Newport) and take a right at the end of the exit ramp onto Farewell Street. At the second traffic light take a right onto America's Cup Avenue. The first brick building on the right is the Visitor Center with Public Parking behind the building.

FROM POINTS NORTH AND BOSTON
Take Interstate 93 South out of Boston to Route 24 South. Around Fall River, MA follow Route 24 South (Fall River/Newport signs) to Route 114 South. This four-lane road is called West Main Road through the towns of Portsmouth and Middletown and once in Newport becomes a two-lane road called Broadway. Once on Broadway, the Newport Hospital is on the left, followed by the Police Station on the right. At Newport City Hall, the next landmark on the left, take a right onto Marlborough Street (follow the sign for Newport Transportation & Visitors Center) and continue to the traffic light. At this light the Visitor Center is in front of you with Public Parking behind the building.

DIRECTIONS FROM NORTHERN RI AND NEW ENGLAND
Take Route 95 South. At the split of 95 South, about 10 miles south of Providence, Rhode Island, the two left lanes lead toward Route 4 South (North Kingstown, East Greenwich) at exit 9. Route 4 South merges into Route 1 South after the second traffic light. From Route 1 South take the exit for the Jamestown/Newport Bridges which leads to Route 138 East. The Jamestown Bridge leads to the Newport Bridge ($4.00 toll). Take the first exit off the Newport Bridge (Scenic Newport) and take a right at the end of the exit ramp onto Farewell Street. At the second traffic light take a right onto America's Cup Avenue. The first brick building on the right is the Visitor Center with Public Parking behind the building.

ALTERNATE ROUTE FROM POINTS NORTH, WEST PROVIDENCE
Route 195 East may be accessed from Route 95 South in the Providence area. Follow 195 East to Route 24 South around Fall River, MA (Fall River/Newport signs) to Route 114 South. DRIVING FROM THE VISITOR CENTER'S PARKING LOT TO


AMERICA'S CUP AVENUE

Turn right out of the parking lot. At the traffic light take a right onto America's Cup Avenue heading south toward downtown Newport.

FROM AMERICA'S CUP AVENUE SOUTH TO


TOURO SYNAGOGUE

Turn left at the first traffic light on America’s Cup Avenue onto Marlborough Street which runs between the baseball park and the fire station. Take a right at the first stop sign onto Thames Street, then a left at the traffic light onto Touro Street. On your left will be Eisenhower Park and movie theaters on the right. The Synagogue is located on the left after going up the hill on Touro Street through the next traffic light.


INTERNATIONAL TENNIS HALL OF FAME

Follow directions for Touro Synagogue. Touro Street ends at the first traffic light after the Synagogue. Bearing right at the light and that is the starts of Bellevue Avenue, which leads past the Hotel Viking on the right, Newport Art Museum on the left and the Old Stone Mill on the right. Proceed through the next traffic light (intersection of Memorial Boulevard and Bellevue Avenue) and the Tennis Hall of Fame is on the left with the Bellevue Shopping Center on the right.


NEWPORT MANSIONS

Follow directions for the Tennis Hall of Fame, which is located on Bellevue Avenue. Almost all of the mansions are found on this avenue. The Breakers Mansion can be reached by taking a left off of Bellevue Avenue onto Ruggles Avenue, the fifth street after the traffic light at the intersection of Bellevue Avenue and Narragansett Avenue. Continuing on Bellevue Avenue leads to scenic Ocean Drive.


ALTERNATE ROUTE TO MANSIONS (OPTION 1)

Follow America's Cup Avenue to the center of town where Bowen's and Bannister's Wharf are on the right-hand side. At the traffic light immediately after the statue of a wave found on the right, is the intersection of America’s Cup Avenue, Memorial Boulevard, and Thames Street. Continue straight up the hill and America’s Cup Avenue becomes Memorial Boulevard. Saint Mary's Church is on the right and the traffic light at the top of the hill is the intersection with Bellevue Avenue. Turn right onto Bellevue Avenue and the mansions begin after the Tennis Hall of Fame, which is on the left. Bellevue Avenue leads to the scenic Ocean Drive.

ALTERNATE ROUTE TO MANSIONS (OPTION 2)

Continue south on America's Cup Avenue in the right hand lane towards downtown. At the traffic light at the intersection of America's Cup Avenue, Thames Street and Memorial Boulevard, turn right onto Thames Street just after the statue of the wave on the right. Continue on Thames Street to the first stop sign at the intersection with Narragansett Avenue. Turn left onto Narragansett Avenue and follow to the traffic light at the intersection with Bellevue Avenue. The Tennis Hall of Fame is a left onto Bellevue Avenue and the mansions are to the left and right. Taking a right and following Bellevue Avenue leads to Ocean Drive.

THE CLIFF WALK

Continue south on America's Cup Avenue toward downtown. Stay in the left-hand lane and continue through the intersection of America’s Cup Avenue and Thames Street where the road becomes Memorial Boulevard (just after the statue of the wave). Travel up Memorial Boulevard through two traffic lights and across Bellevue Avenue. The entrance to the Cliff Walk is on the right just after the enterance to the Chanler Hotel. Easton’s Beach is on the right after the entrance to the Cliff Walk.

OCEAN DRIVE

In the right-hand lane, follow America's Cup Avenue toward downtown to the traffic light at the intersection of America's Cup Avenue and Thames Street (just after the statue of the wave on the right). Turn right onto Thames Street and then bear right onto Wellington Avenue (just across from a Shell gas station on the left-hand side). Continue on to Ocean Drive by taking a right at both of the next two stop signs. Ocean Drive runs past Fort Adams State Park, Brenton Point State Park, Gooseberry, Hazard, and Bailey's Beaches, and ends on Bellevue Avenue, which leads to the mansions, The Tennis Hall of Fame and the downtown area.

DIRECTIONS FOR LEAVING NEWPORT

POINTS SOUTH (CT, NY, NJ)
Follow America's Cup Avenue North (a left at the traffic light if leaving The Visitor Information Center’s parking lot), which ends with a traffic light at the intersection of America’s Cup Avenue and Farewell Street. Turn left onto Farewell Street, travel through the next traffic light, and the on-ramp for the Newport/Jamestown Bridges and Route 138 West is a right-hand exit. This route travels over the bridges ($4.00 toll for the Newport Bridge or EZ Pass). Route 138 West ends and puts you onto Route 1 South for a short distance. Follow signs on Route 1 South leading back to Route 138 West and to The University of Rhode Island. The entrance to 95 South is about 15 miles up Route 138 West past the University of Rhode Island.

POINTS NORTH AND EAST (BOSTON, CAPE COD)

Follow America's Cup Avenue North (a left at the traffic light if leaving The Visitor Information Center’s parking lot), which ends with a traffic light at the intersection of America’s Cup Avenue and Farewell Street. Turn left onto Farewell Street and follow until this road ends at the traffic light in front of Newport Grand. Take a left at this light onto Route 138 (Admiral Kalbfus Road) and follow to the 2nd traffic light. At this traffic light take a left onto Route 114 (West Main Road) and follow to the end of the island. Follow signs to Route 24 North, which leads to 195 East toward Cape Cod, or remain on 24 North towards Boston.

POINTS NORTH (PROVIDENCE AND NEW ENGLAND)
Follow America's Cup Avenue North (a left at the traffic light if leaving The Visitor Information Center’s parking lot), which ends with a traffic light at the intersection of America’s Cup Avenue and Farewell Street. Turn left onto Farewell Street, travel through the next traffic light, and the on-ramp for the Newport/Jamestown Bridges and Route 138 West is a right-hand exit. This route travels over the bridges ($4.00 toll for the Newport Bridge). Take the right-hand exit off 138 West for Providence and Route 1 North. This route merges into Route 4 North and then into Route 95 North towards Providence, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
