FAQ Haven't found what you're looking for in Newport and Bristol County? Here are our most frequently asked questions.
Q: How long is the Cliff Walk? Is it an easy walk?
A: It is 3.5 miles one-way, 7 miles round trip. Two-thirds of Cliff Walk is a paved, easy to walk trek, while one-third on the southernmost end (closer to Rough Point) has more difficult, rocky terrain.

Q: How long will it take me to drive the Ocean Drive?
A: Approximately 30-45 minutes depending on traffic and number of stops.

A: Where can I park for the Cliff Walk, mansions or the beach?
Q: Parking is available along Narragansett Avenue for the Cliff Walk. The mansions provide parking lots (free). Paid parking lot and metered parking along Memorial Boulevard for Easton’s Beach. Second Beach has paid parking lot only.

Q: What are the differences between the Harbor Tours?
A: You can enjoy 1 hour narrated tours on a motor boat, or 1-2 hours tour on a sailboat.

Q: How often does the trolley go to the mansions? How much does it cost?
A: During the summer season, the trolley runs every 20 minutes (Route #67 – Bellevue/Mansions/Salve Regina University). You pay the driver directly either $2 per ride or an all-day pass for $6. You can start at the Visitor Center or along the route at designated shuttle stops.

Q: Do I have to buy my tickets at the mansions?
A: No, you can buy them either at the Visitors Center or at the mansions.

Q: What does the validation at the Visitors Center parking lot do?
A: Bring in your ticket to be validated and receive the first 1/2 hour of your parking free.

Q: How long does it take to go through a mansion?
A: You should allow approximately 1 hour per mansion, though many mansions offer self-guided audio tours, so you can go at your own pace.

Q: Can I walk to the harbor and wharves from the Visitors Center?
A: Yes, it is a short walk to the harbor, downtown and to many of our restaurants and shops from the Visitors Center.

A: How far are the mansions from the Visitors Center?
Q: Approximately 1-3 miles.
