Their Manners Pleasing, and Their Education Complete: Newport Samplers 1728-1835
The exhibit, featuring 18th and early 19th century samplers from the Newport Historical Society’s textiles collection, reflects the evolution of Newport needlework over the course of a century and includes examples of the different types of samplers that a girl might produce. Newport samplers are well-known for their lively and distinctive designs. Admission by donation. Open 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday, closed on major holidays. Exhibit runs from December 18, 2011 - February 24, 2012.
