Ocean State Tall Ships Festival 2012 Newport, RI will be an Official Host Port for the Tall Ships Challenge® series on the Atlantic Coast in the summer of 2012 from July 6-9th. 2012 marks the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, a defining event in the national history of the United States and Canada, and Rhode Island’s citizens are excited to commemorate this important bicentennial. Newport enjoys a rich maritime heritage and a long history of hosting successful tall ships events for families throughout southern New England.
